Roccaraso is the best-known name in Alto Sangro, but the ski area is one and the same: the slopes of Roccaraso, Rivisondoli and Pescocostanzo are linked and covered by the single Alto Sangro ski pass. From Rivisondoli the Monte Pratello lifts are a few minutes' drive away, and Aremogna is an easy day out.
The advantage is everything else: a quieter village, easier parking, homes with real space for families and groups of friends, and mountain restaurants just around the corner.
In summer Alto Sangro is cool and green: trails like the Sant'Antonio Forest, Monte Rotella, the craft workshops of Pescocostanzo and the historic Transiberiana d'Italia train. You'll find it all in our guide.
No: they are neighbouring villages a few kilometres apart. By car it takes just a few minutes to get from one to the other.
Yes: the Roccaraso, Rivisondoli and Pescocostanzo slopes belong to the same ski area and are covered by the Alto Sangro ski pass. Prices and open runs are on the ski area's official website.
