Stone palaces, carved doorways, the Collegiata di Santa Maria del Colle and a craft tradition that lives on: bobbin lace, wrought iron and goldsmithing. Pescocostanzo is one of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages and deserves to be explored slowly, on foot.
Just outside the village lies one of the finest beech forests in Abruzzo: centuries-old beeches with candelabra-shaped branches, an easy loop of under an hour and a small medieval hermitage. In winter it becomes a magical place for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
From Rivisondoli you are a few minutes from Pescocostanzo, the Monte Pratello slopes and Roccaraso: a central base for exploring all of Alto Sangro, with entire homes and direct requests, no booking fees.
